We are sad to announce that Gerry Foley sadly passed away on the 21st January.

Dear Members

We are sorry to have to share the sad news that Gerry Foley passed away on the 21st January.

Gerry made a huge contribution to the Society over many years. He was an excellent referee and for many years Gerry administered our Whistler Trophy award. Gerry was always a regular at meetings until ill health prevented him attending. He was always very helpful to new referees.

Away from the Society Gerry often ran the line at Clifton and helped run the popular Combination Merit Tables . In 2013 Gerry was awarded the British Empire Medal for services to Bristol Rugby.

We have passed on the Society’s condolences to Gerrys family and will let you know the funeral arrangements in due course.

If you are refereeing this weekend try to make sure that you have a pint and a chat with the players and supporters just like Gerry always did

RIP Gerry
