St Johns Ambulance First Aid Course

First Aid Course – Maximum of 12 minimum of 10 for one trainer or maximum of 18 if two trainers are available - £26 per delegate

This is a certificated course and will be held at St John Hall, Tilling Road, Horfield, Bristol, BS10 5YH

Just as a point of reference the building is in the road directly behind the TA centre which is near Horfield Sports Centre on Horfield Common (Gloucester Road).  The post code of the Territorial Army building on Horfield Common is BS7 0XL.  It would appear that if you use this for Sat Nav purposes it’s more reliable than the one for St John Hall.

The course will start promptly at 9.00 or 9.30am and finish at 1.00 or 1.30pm [depending on Trainer’s afternoon commitments] and cover the Emergency Life Support (adult) course which covers Communication and casualty care, severe bleeding, chest pains, choking, CPR, rescue breaths and unconcious casualty.  In addition to this you will also cover the Bones, Muscles and Joint module.  They are aware that some delegates deal with M & Y players so the differences will be addressed and delegates should ask any questions that they feel have not been covered.

Please remember that there is a lot to fit into a short time, so a prompt start is essential.  As this is a practical subject, all participants must actively demonstrate the practical skills necessary to achieve the certificate, so all participants must be physically fit enough to take part.  It would be advantageous if any ladies present could wear trousers as this course involves acting as a casualty (ie lying on the floor and being rolled over).
